Lot 120 at the Craven Breeze Up
I have had a quick skim through the Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up catalogue after its release on February 26th. The most standout entry is Lot 120, a chestnut colt by Cotai Glory out of Thrilled.
He is a full brother to the lightning-fast The Platinum Queen. This filly was a remarkable Group 1-winning two-year-old for Middleham Park Racing, who cleverly campaigned her to win the Group 1 Prix de l’Abbaye at ParisLongchamp—becoming the first two-year-old to win the race since 1978. Her juvenile season also included a dominant 4-length victory in the Alice Keppel Fillies’ Conditions Stakes at Goodwood and a gallant second against older horses in the Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes.
The pedigree has only grown stronger recently. This colt is also a half-brother to the Group-winning Seagulls Eleven, who proved his class by winning the Group 3 Glorious Stakes and placing in the Group 1 National Stakes at the Curragh. Seagulls Eleven ended last season with an official rating of 110, while his illustrious half-sister reached a peak rating of 111.
With such a high-caliber family of precocious sprinters, Lot 120 is bound to be one of the most anticipated watches on the Newmarket breeze-up strip this April.
